You will do what eBay wants and you will like it

As everyone knows, Matt Murphy, the guy that managed to snag Barry Bonds' 756 home run, has said he's not sure he wants to sell the ball. Well, eBay is having none of that. The web site has put up what I can only describe as a fairly direct demand (above) that he auction the ball off on eBay.

Even though putting the ball up on eBay could result in it going for more money than it would somewhere else (estimates are it could go for $500,000 to $2 million), I still find it incredibly presumptuous that eBay seems to think it's their right to auction off the ball. eBay just wants the money they're due to make from auctioning off the ball.

I'm now rooting for Murphy to just keep the ball and stick it to "the eBay community," which in all honesty can't be more than a handful of people. I don't exactly think Joe the plumber in Pittsburgh is desperate to bid on this ball.
