Derek Jeter is Johnny Drama

Yesterday SPORTSbyBROOKS let us know that the Yankees had taken money earmarked for stadium planning and used it to buy lavish things. This information was revealed via the Freedom of Information Law.

But apparently even more stuff came out. After sorting through the old documents, The Village Voice came across a list accidentally included from a road trip the Yanks took to Seattle in the last week of August of 2005. It was a crib sheet explaining which player and coach names went with which hotel-room pseudonyms. Some are juvenile, some are awesome, and some are just random as hell.

Here's the list.

Pseudonym: Simon Phoenix
Real name: Mike Mussina

Pseudonym: Bruce Almighty
Real name: Don Mattingly

Pseudonym: Austin Powers
Real name: Ruben Sierra

Pseudonym: Johnny Drama
Real name: Derek Jeter

Pseudonym: Turd Ferguson
Real name: Jaret Wright

Pseudonym: Richard Long (very clever Bernie)
Real n
ame: Bernie Williams

Pseudonym: Rickey Ricardo
Real name: Jorge Posada

Pseudonym: Joe Saturday
Real name: Hideki Matsui

Pseudonym: Harry Pelotas (yes, that's Harry Balls when translated)
Real name: Luis Sojo

Pseudonym: Sam Adams
Real name: Randy Johnson

Pseudonym: Eleven Fifty
Real name: Matt Lawton

A-Rod stayed at a different hotel so he didn't make the list. Damn shame.

Nope, nothing conspicuous about any of those names.

I see Randy as more of the "Yosemite Sam" type...

I worked at a hotel where A-Rod stayed once and he was listed as Pat Riley.

Shouldn't A-Rod's alias be I-suck-a-Rod?

I thought 'Randy Johnson' was the fake name.
