Roy Williams delivers the goods, survives metro Detroit

I hope that Kevlar vest is comfortable Roy.

Roy Williams managed to survive delivering pizzas in metro Detroit yesterday, which is an achievement in and of it itself. I know some people thought he'd wind up getting shot and I'm pretty sure Vegas had the odds at 4-to-1.

Williams wound up learning the dos and don'ts of the delivery business, which include:

• Do NOT carry excess personal cash.
• Drive with the doors locked.
• Do not park in driveways.
• Never cross the threshold of a house.
• Walk quickly and stay alert.
• Do NOT handle money in the open.
• Drive with doors locked.

I like how drive with the doors locked is mentioned twice. That must be the special Detroit version.

Nothing really that awesome happened, like a crackhead holding him up for his pizza. But during one delivery a bunch of neighbors chanted for a woman not to tip the receiver. And some kid thought he was now making pizzas for a living.

Anyway, I'm confident Roy will start tipping delivery guys now. There's only so many times you can roll through metro Detroit without getting shot.

Don't tip Roy Williams today

You may remember that story about Lions receiver Roy Williams being a total cheapskate and not tipping pizza guys.

Well, Pizza Hut challenged him to give the rough and tumble life of a pizza delivery man a try and he accepted. So if you live in Detroit, then you may have your pizza delivered by Roy today.

Yep, from 4-6pm today Mr. Cheapskate will be an honorary delivery driver for the nationwide pizza chain. He'll be operating from a Pizza Hut somewhere in metro Detroit. The exact location of the joint he'll be working from will be released sometime today. Hopefully they'll make him drive a beat up 1984 Honda Civic. Although as cheap as Roy is, that might be his car anyway.

He'll also apparently be making a personal donation to the World Food Program, which includes all the tips he gets. Don't fall for that trick. Send the World Food Program a check on your own time.

Roy deserves a taste of his own medicine today. So if he shows up at your house with a pizza in his hands, do your civic duty and don't tip him. Pizza delivery men everywhere will thank you.
