Playoff Musings: Raps v. Nets

It's too bad the Raptors mascot doesn't have sharper teeth. VC, best known for tanking half a season with the Toronto Raptors to force a trade, I guess got revenge of some kind on his former team as the Nets beat the Raps 98-97. I think any serious NBA fan can't have anything but contempt for Carter. What he did to the Raps to force that trade to the Nets a few years back was beyond despicable. He's the definition of the selfish jackass athlete. If only Calderon had gotten that last pass up a little higher to Bosh.....

Meanwhile, this sets up a Nets v. Cavs second round matchup, which sounds like it should be good, but I could really care less. This is the worst second round matchup. Pistons/Bulls will be awesome, Suns/Spurs as well, and Warriors/whoever will have the huge bandwagon factor.

Don't worry though LeBron, you'll have our full attention when you get to the Eastern Conference finals after beating the Nets in 6.

Playoff Musings: Raps v. Nets

The Raptors are alive, but they're certainly not well. The Raps managed to gut-out a win tonight at home 98-96, by stemming a furious 4th quarter run by the Nets. However, both T.J. Ford and Jose Calderon went down with injuries, which means the Raps are in serious trouble if neither can return for Game 6. Bosh wasn't very good tonight, but Bargnani, Mo Pete and Calderon picked up the slack.

Meanwhile, the chant of the night was "Let's Go Raps......VC Sucks!" Love it.

Playoff Musings: Raps v. Nets

I might have NBA TV as part of my cable, but I'm not really sure. Either way, I only saw the last minute of this game, which the Raps managed to win 89-83 to tie up the series at 1-1. Bosh had 25 pts and 13 boards, while Anthony Parker (who I vaguely remember from Bradley) had 26 pts.

It's apparent that the NBA doesn't really think much of the Raps by putting them on NBA TV. I'm not a Raps fan, but that's probably because they're never on TV. You'd think they'd want more people watching a young star like Bosh. But that makes too much sense.

Sam Mitchell also won coach of the year today, which is funny, because not all that long ago he was probably one of the worst coaches in the league. Whatever.
