The Terminator takes up baseball

If you're like me, then you're constantly wondering when super-cyborgs will replace regular human athletes in professional sports. And of course we're all wondering how long it'll take before those cyborgs start indiscriminentely killing humans.

While neither of those two scenarios has arrived yet, we're getting closer. Above, and in the video below, is the Batting Machine Robot. Even though the machine currently hits the ball less hard than an emaciated Juan Pierre, we advise not getting too close to this thing while it's taking its hacks.

Of course, there are still some kinks to work out, namely that the robot can't hit sliders, or for that matter run, but the future looks bright. The Royals already signed the robot to a 3-year contract.

I have a strange feeling though that these things will soon be roaming the streets beating humans senseless. That'd certainly make my day a lot more exciting.

By the way, if you want to see what it's like having cyborgs shoot baseballs at you from a cannon in their chest, click here.

Forget the Royals. Arnold should put something in the California budget to get this thing in a Giants uniform. With a little "clear" from Bonds, this thing could be putting balls into the Cove regularly.
