The Phillies and Giants begin a four-game set tonight, and if you're thinking it's going to be a home run shelling by Ryan Howard and Barry Bonds ... think again.
Why don't we just call this what it really is: The Battle Of Who Will Get Walked More.
Howard is tied for the league lead in walks with 26, while Bonds isn't too far behind with 23.
There's no way either team will pitch to either player with runners in scoring position - and probably not even with the bases empty, too. (Especially with Howard's three-run shot against the Braves yesterday.)
Both players' home run numbers may be down - Howard with four, Bonds with nine - but that doesn't mean they can't be a threat to splash one down in McCovey Cove at any point.
The guys to look out for:
For the Phillies - Chase Utley (.308 BA, 5 HR 21 RBI), Jimmy Rollins (.308 BA, 9 HR 19 RBI) and Aaron Rowand (.381 BA, 5 HR 14 RBI).
For the Giants - Ray Durham (.290 BA, .346 OBP, 14 RBI) and Bengie Molina (.322 BA, .448 SLG).
Let the games begin ...
