The Suns desperately needed this game and boy did they ever get it. Nash's nose finally stopped bleeding from Game 1 and he got the team fired up and started dishing like he usually does as the Suns won 101-81. Nash finished with 20 and 16 assists. The Matrix also finally got the call to lock up Parker for the majority of the game and it worked. Parker went only 2 for 8 from the field when the Matrix was on him.
An eye opening performance was also turned in by Kurt Thomas, who was able to guard Duncan one-on-one for long stretches. Thomas played some very impressive defense on Duncan in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
Phoenix, however, is still in bad situation. The Spurs own the Suns in San Antonio. But the Suns can take this much from Game 2. Kurt Thomas can play Duncan one-on-one to help ease the load on Amare and the Matrix should be left on Parker for the rest of the series. Also absolutely blowing out the Spurs should help the Suns psyche.
But we'll see, the Suns have to steal a game in San Antonio, otherwise this series is as good as over.
