And so the trend of Eastern Conference teams crapping the bed in home closeout games continues. Tonight, behind the work of J-Kidd, the Nets managed to stave off elimination in a brutally awful game to watch by winning 83-72. Kidd finished with 20 pts, 9 boards and 6 assists.
Some of the stats in this game were mind-numbingly awful. New Jersey scored 6 pts (you read that right, 6pts) in the entire 4th quarter - AND WON. The Cavs managed only 13 pts in the 4th. The two teams started the 4th quarter 0 for 17 from the field and finished 4 for 32. There were also a combined 37 turnovers in the game.
And people wonder why NBA fans don't respect the Eastern Conference.
This game officially ended any interest I had (and I didn't have much) in this series. I don't care who wins this thing and I'm not watching another game of this series. The way things are going, it'll probably come down to a Game 7 tied at 56 with 20 seconds to go in the 4th.
The only question left is how badly LeBron banged up his knee at the end of the game. Will he return at full speed for Game 6? Who knows, who cares. Whoever wins this series is going to get waxed by the Bulls or Pistons, who will in turn get waxed by whoever comes out of the West.
