The Play II

The YouTube version of this is gone, presumably because of ESPN, so here's the official ESPN clip. It's Trinity College against Millsaps College from yesterday. And it took 15 laterals from Trinity to get the win. I like how bored the announcer is for about the first 8 laterals. Then things pick up a bit.

The announcer nearly broke the speakers in my computer, and I'm partially deaf now. However, very cool video. 47 laterals in one play. I love a good series of lateral-izing. Very sexy. The only thing that would have enhanced this play is if someone from the other team's band would have gotten rocked in the endzone like in the Cal-Stanford "Big Play."

that second announcer reminds me of that Dane Cook joke

"WHOPPER. WHOPPER NO ONION."

Joe Kapp, the Cal coach when "The Play" occurred to beat Stanford in the Big Game in 1982, almost 25 years ago, is now a motivational speaker and claims with a straight face that he "designed the play."

Will the Trinity coach similarly parlay this incredible good fortune?

October 28th's game-ending score is aptly called "The Play II."
